Chartwell Shopping Centre recently received an overhaul and upgrade of its security systems, thanks to the team at Watchu Security.
A cutting-edge CCTV system with 150 high-resolution Vivotek cameras, number plate recognition, and a new video wall are just some features of the centre’s new system, which was completed late 2021.
Watchu Project Manager James Shearer said the project involved a significant amount of design, planning and product knowledge.
“Our goal was to ensure the system would withstand the test of time, and can be serviced and upgraded regularly, and with minimum disruption to businesses,” said James.
“We installed a state-of-the-art CCTV system using Vivotek cameras and a video wall, allowing operators to track vehicle and people movement throughout the entire complex.
“This new security system and technology makes Chartwell a safer place for the public, staff and retail owners.”
James said the project presented unique challenges for the team, especially with Covid restrictions in place.
“We kept ourselves invisible to shoppers. The mall was incredibly busy upon re-opening, so we undertook nightwork so that we could gain access easily and minimise our contact with the public.”
James said the team at Watchu Security has a ‘great partnership’ with Chartwell. “We continue to support their needs. We’re currently designing access gates and looking into the use of fog cannons in the future.”
